christmas seems odd without the snow. hmmph
Wednesday was a day of many firsts. I took a 6 hour road trip courtesy of a friend's brother to NYC and survived.
Mind you, this is unlike your normal 3 hour car ride to KL and back.. I travelled through parts of downstate New York before making through parts of the 5 boroughs of NYC - namely, the bronx and manhattan. I passed by Little Italy and Chinatown. It was interesting how the slums in each area differed in structure and character.
Then i took the subway to chinatown. This was not a mean feat. Ok i admit i kinda got lost and missed my stop. I was told to take the F train to chinatown to 'East Broadway' and little did i know that i took the express train by mistake and i had to get down and take the train backwards. But apparently, that train did not stop there either. Luckily with the help of a fellow commuter, we managed to get to the correct stop and i met my friend at Chinatown. Her house in Chinatown was small. It came to me that life in the US is not easy for most immigrants. Yet, they make do with whatever that they have and contend with the choices that are available. Sure, her house may not be on the top listed properties in NYC, it even reeks of urine and poor sewage. But my fren's family own some electronic gadgets that i can only dream of.
anyway.. to cut the long story short, i stayed there for a night and left the next morning on a 6 hour bus ride to Boston. It wasn't as painful as i expected. I was awake for most of the times coz i don't do well on a moving bus sleeping.
so here i am in Boston for a couple of weeks. Have just booked my flight back to Rochester from JFK on the 8 Jan. That's when all the fun will end.
